Join forces for our Tiny Toddle, anytime in June or July 2024 to raise money for the Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity's Tiny Toes appeal!

We hope lots of little feet can make a huge difference to the premature and poorly babies we care for on the neonatal unit at Rotherham Hospital.

Our sponsored walk is aimed at youngsters aged under five, although children of all ages and abilities can take part. Those learning to toddle can roll along from the comfort of their pushchairs and older siblings can jog alongside too - the more the merrier! So gather your toddlers and get fundraising!

Your Tiny Toes Toddle can be indoors or out. You could take part at your nursery, school or play group. Or why not take your Tiny Toes Toddle to your local park or woodland trail? We think half a mile is just about right for your toddle.

What are we raising money for?

We launched our very special fundraising campaign to raise £150,000 to help our tiniest, most vulnerable patients and their families last summer.

Caring for a premature or poorly baby can be an extremely stressful and emotional time for parents. The excitement of a newborn is taken away and replaced with a rollercoaster of worries about the unknown.

The ward, also known as the Special Care Baby Unit, was originally built 40 years ago and as the facilities are constantly used by parents, they were worn and outdated. It still contained an old fashioned viewing corridor! The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust has completely refurbished the infrastructure of the unit, with the charity continuing to fundraise for things which make it extra special.

It will fund recliner chairs so parents can sleep beside their baby’s cot, a ‘wobble room’ for parents and staff who need time away from the ward, resources for siblings and keepsakes for parents and much more. Our ‘wish list’ unit continues to grow!

While the new unit is partially open, our fundraising continues so that we can make it extra special.
