Story

This Heart Month, Panini has teamed up with Bristol Rovers defender Tom Lockyer to release a special limited edition shiny sticker, celebrating his remarkable return to football and supporting the lifesaving work of the British Heart Foundation.

In December 2023, Tom sent shockwaves through the football world when he suffered a cardiac arrest mid‑match on 16th December 2023. Thanks to the fast actions of bystanders and club medics, who rushed to perform CPR and defibrillation, the then‑29‑year‑old survived. He spent five days in hospital and later had an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) fitted.

Now 31, Tom has openly documented his long road to recovery and remarkable return to football. The Bristol Rovers defender has since become an ambassador for the British Heart Foundation and is passionate about encouraging everyone to learn CPR and understand what to do in the ultimate medical emergency.

These exclusive stickers will be available to fans at the Bristol Rovers v Grimsby Town match on 21 February. If you’re lucky enough to get one and you’d like to support the BHF’s work, you can make a voluntary donation here. Every contribution helps fund vital research and teaches more people how to save a life.

Tom Lockyer said:

“I’ve been a Panini fan since I was a kid, so being part of this special sticker release means a lot — especially after everything that’s happened. If my story encourages even one person to learn CPR or support the BHF, then something good can come from a really tough moment.”

Thank you for supporting the British Heart Foundation this Heart Month. Your kindness and donations help fund more ground-breaking research to keep us beating.
