Buying tools to support our volunteers

Organised by Anagach Woods Trust

We are raising money to buy tools, so that, rather than buying in timber, we use material found in the woods to make wooden structures such as signs, way markers and benches.

Anagach Woods Trust cares for a 1,000 acre community owned woodland which provides leisure opportunities for local people and visitors. The woods provide habitat for rare and endangered species such as the Capercaillie and Pine Hoverfly

Story

To avoid bringing treated timber and other materials into the woods we want to use material from the woods to make wooden structures such as signs, way markers benches and other items.

We plan to establish a small outdoor workshop on site in Anagach next to the Curling pavilion. This campaign aims to raise funds to equip the workshop with the tools that we need. The larger items that we need are pictured above, and include Shave Horses, Treddle Lathes, Saw Horses and a variety of hand tools such as Draw knives and other lathe tools.

We hope to create a group of volunteer woodworkers. This will benefit to the Anagach Woods and participants. We'll provide appropriate training. If you are interested in being part of the team please email us at anagachwoods@hotmail.co.uk and we will get in touch once our plans have been finalised.

In the meantime if you would like to help maintain and enhance the woods you might like to join on of our volunteer days on the first Saturday, second Sunday (starting in June) and last Monday of each month, through the spring, summer and autumn. If you would like to join us you can sign up on the Cairngorms Volunteer portal (https://cairngorms.co.uk/caring-future/volunteer-cairngorms/opportunities/).
