We need to do this to help provide vital support to our community.
Torbay is in the top quarter of the most deprived local authorities in England and is the most deprived local authority in the South West. It’s an area blighted with some of the worst domestic and child abuse levels in the UK.
There are also worrying illiteracy statistics- and we are on a mission to make a difference: a child’s earliest years are pivotal to their development and life chances.
In 1925 the ‘Juvenile Library’ was opened officially by the Mayor of Torquay.
100 years on, you can help us make it shiny, new and fun for families, by sponsoring anything from books to beanbags!
£6 would buy a new children’s book
£50 would buy a play cushion
£100 would buy a set of sensory toys
£250 would buy a digital screen to show films
“Our mission is to inspire everyone to have a love of reading. We want everyone reading, holding books, talking about books and breathing books." - Sarah Kennedy, Library Supervisor
