With a new blood cancer diagnosis every 27 seconds worldwide, Cure Leukaemia funds research nurses at UK blood cancer centres, giving patients access to treatments through clinical trials. This support drives global significant advancements in blood cancer, impacting those affected by the disease.

Story

Tour of the TAP is back and bigger than ever before.

Cure Leukaemia CEO, James McLaughlin will run the equivalent of four marathons in November 2021 to raise funds for the 12 UK blood cancer centres the charity supports.

Thats 12 legs of 14km (168km!) and all in the space of just 14 days!

The number 14 is key to this challenge and its significant because every 14 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer in the UK.

Last year, James raised £21,000 but had to run remotely because of the COVID-19 crisis, which created a shortfall of £1.7m for the charity.

However, this year, he will travel to and run in all the major cities where our Trials Acceleration Programme (TAP) centres are based, that is Belfast, Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, Cardiff, Birmingham, Oxford, Southampton and London.

The TAP network, which as you can see spans the length of breadth of the UK, consists of a network of specialist research nurses who enable the accelerated setup and delivery of pioneering and potentially life-saving blood cancer clinical trials.

TAP allows these trials to run, giving patients from a catchment area of over 20 million people access to potentially life-saving treatments not currently available through standard care.

The money raised from this challenge will go towards that funding and James has got high hopes of smashing his previous target in the process.

The challenge starts on Wednesday 17th November in Belfast and concludes on Wednesday 1st December in London.

SUPPORT

You can play your part and join our #WeWillFindaCure quest in two ways.

You can get involved by sponsoring James on his personal Just Giving page (check the right hand side of this page to access).

Or you can put your best foot forward, create your own Just Giving page and run with him either remotely or alongside him in person.

Select one of the legs and run/walk 14km on the day.

Raise £100+ and you'll become one of our Lifesavers and automatically join our CL Lifesavers 100 Club.

You'll even receive a special, personalised Moonpig card as a thank you.

SPONSOR

We are looking for companies to sponsor a stage, or stages, of this Tour of the TAP challenge.

It costs £500 per leg or we do have headline sponsorship available for the whole event.

Again, this money will be invested into our Trials Acceleration Programme (TAP) and will ensure we fund more nurses, run more clinical trials and save more lives.

Please email Gemma@CureLeukaemia.co.uk to get involved.
