Peter and Helen

Peter:

“Ever since I came out as Trans my mum has been unwaveringly supportive. She and I have been running for a few years now and have often run together, pushing and pacing each other. I had top surgery in the summer and so this year’s 10k will be the first 10k running without a chest binder. Under the current political climate, it's difficult fighting for basics like healthcare and it's increasingly difficult to continue to care for yourself when the world seems to vilify you. The Trans Thriving project at Trade, funded by the lottery community fund, aims to improve the health and wellbeing of local trans* people and is vital work. My mum and I are proud to run together to support Trade and its work, and to show what perseverance, pride, and solidarity can achieve.”

Helen:

“I am running for Trade and to support my trans son who I couldn’t be more proud of. I think everyone deserves access to help and medical advice and I wholeheartedly support the charity and their great work.”

Bliss

"I moved to this city with the hope of finding more safety as an openly queer woman, and Trade Sexual Health has been that home for many years now in Leicester.

Trade Sexual health offered me community and belonging, no matter which partner I brought with me.

They offered me safety and fun, whether I was in a skirt or dressed as a drag king !

They offered me purpose and passion, when life felt scattered and lacked direction.

It's been a joy to be actively involved as a volunteer, an employee, an activist and a friend, in supporting the incredible queer sexual health work by Trade Sexual Health.
