All funds raised will support Transaid's road safety and access to healthcare programmes in sub-Saharan Africa, transforming lives through safe, available, and sustainable transport.
An estimated 1.19 million people die each year as a result of road traffic crashes. Even though low and middle income countries only account for approximately 60% of the world's vehicles, they experience 93% of the global fatalities on roads.
Transaid's partner-led approach to improving road safety focuses on promoting safe driver behaviour and advocating for quality truck, bus and motorcycle training with long term programmes in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. We encourage the exchange of knowledge and skills at national, regional, and global levels to deliver sustainable change to driver training standards across sub-Saharan Africa.
Data from the World Health Organisation (2020-2024) shows that nearly every minute, a child under five dies of malaria. A maternal death occurred almost every two minutes in 2020.
To help end the epidemic of malaria and to reduce maternal deaths, Transaid uses a partner-led approach to improve access to healthcare by establishing emergency transport systems (ETS), primarily in rural areas, to reduce the barriers to healthcare posed by lack of transport. We are also working to strengthen health supply chains in collaboration with local partners and governments.
With your support, Transaid can continue to transform lives through safe, available and sustainable transport.
