About the Tri360 Challenge

The Performance Academy are excited to launch their upcoming fundraising event, the Tri360 Challenge.

This one-of-a-kind relay challenge aims to raise crucial funds to support the Andrew Simpson Foundation, transforming lives through sailing.

This brand-new, fully unique event will see the four key Performance Academy team members attempt to conquer a 360-kilometer distance, involving three different disciplines, aiming to complete it within 24 hours.

-This challenge will begin with rowing the distance from Andrew Simpson Centre (ASC) Portland to ASC Portsmouth – a total of 105km.

-Then they will look to run the distance from ASC Portsmouth to ASC Reading, which is 90km.

-The final stretch will see a 165km cycle completing the distance of ASC Reading to ASC Birmingham.

The team will need to average a pace of 15km per hour, in this relay style challenge where someone will always be on the go.

Whilst covering the distance between the Andrew Simpson Foundation’s not-for-profit watersports centres, the Tri360 challenge will be entirely conducted from the area in and around the Performance Academy’s base, Portland.

This challenge will test the team’s physical and mental strength, and will require a regimented and consistent training plan, incorporating each of the three disciplines. The challenge will be updated live on social media during the 24 hours. The date for the Tri360 challenge is November 12th, 2024.

This one-of-a-kind event is an excellent opportunity for the Performance Academy to demonstrate their passion, grit and determination, values nurtured in the sailors they coach to reach the top levels of sailing.

About the Performance Academy

Forming part of the Andrew Simpson Group, the Performance Academy offers high quality training for sailors in our class-specific programmes and foiling pathway.

Our team specialises in providing performance coaching for a range of classes, including the ILCA, Optimist, Topper, WASZP, IQFoil, 29er, and 49er classes.

Akin to the Andrew Simpson Foundation (ASF), the Performance Academy is a not-for-profit entity, with all proceeds generated put back into ASF towards charitable activities, assisting in the mission to transform lives through sailing. This includes the Performance Academy Sailing Scholarship (PASS), which is an opportunity to provide pathway sailors subsidised additional training and mentoring support through the Performance Academy programmes.

This year we have seen both the Olympics and the America’s Cup, showcasing our sport’s elite athletes. The Performance Academy aims to support those wishing to reach that level in the future, aiming to increase accessibility is one of the most important steps to ensuring those who have the talent will also have the access to training, regardless of barriers they face.
