Story

POST EVENT REPORT:

31 men set out in 3 teams; Team 1 completed all 3 Peaks in under 24hrs; Team 2 completed all 3 Peaks in 29hrs after vehicle breakdown and injuries; Team 3 ended up doing the Twin Peak Challenge (missing Scafell) as timings necessitated an adjustment. They all did exceptionally well, overcoming difficulties and handing everything with grace and humour!

We will keep this fund-raising page open until the end of this month. Everything we get here will go to this project with our trusted friends in Kenya. The more we can give will help them get a 4x4 with fewer KMs on the clock, will help them with running and maintenance and fuel costs, and it's all part of their Farm Schools initiative which is enabling thousands to be self-sustaining, well-fed, children into schools, accessing medical care and more.

BACK STORY: For 15 years, Trinity Cheltenham has had an amazing partnership with churches in Kericho Diocese - an area the size of Wales in south west Kenya, where poverty is high, drought conditions frequent, food security challenging, health issues prevalent, educational attainment low and community life precarious. BUT great things are also happening! We have the huge privilege of helping to support local churches and leaders in various initiatives. The 4x4 vehicle we hope to fund through this Three Peaks Challenge will enable multiple projects to be started and maintained - including training hundreds through "Farm Schools", equipping families and communities to feed themselves sustainably.

Here is a list of our intrepid adventurers:

Andy Osmond, Ben Allen, Ben Leighton, Bernie Roberts, Cameron Bown, Dan James, David Crawford, Dave Kania, David Richardson, Elliott Paterson, Grant Holdaway, Gus Henderson, Harry Lunt, Ian Britten, Jacob Duan, Joel Callow, Jonathon Watkins, Lambert David, Matthew Fitzsimons, Mark Smith, Mike Pang, Nick Eden, Nobby Jobson, Pete Hills, Rob Ryan, Russell Brooks, Simon Fellows, Tim Grew, Trevor Kisten, Will Bennett, Will Pope, Yoan Okoko, Zane Nel.

(We're gutted for Zane and Grant who had to drop out last minute due to injury and illness.)

And the Support Crew: Chris Whisker, Garry McCrea, Harry Steven, John Phipps, Matt Goddard, Nick Stott, Pete McCrea, Peter Straiton...

Small print! We're aiming to get 100% of your donation sent straight to our partners in Kenya with all of our participants (including the Support Crew) paying their way as well as raising funds. However, there may be a few expenses that need to be covered from central funds, and we'll post these transparently here as they become clear - they'll be very small, if any. ***UPDATE*** we're delighted to say all foreseeable expenses have been paid upfront and in full by the participants, ensuring your full donation can and will go straight towards the target.

Also, you may see Christine Robertson's name when you click donate - Christine is our church Finance Manager and runs the Just Giving page for us.
