The Charity was set up in memory of Stephen, a primary school teacher, who passed away from Myocarditis in 2014, aged 23, to fund research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease. And, to provide opportunities to groups of children aged 5-11 via Sports & Music Development Grants.

Story

Stephen Hughes was a fit and healthy young primary school teacher, when, at the age of 23, he contracted Myocarditis, from a virus which caused severe heart failure, and he tragically died in 2014. His friends and family set up a Charity in his name, which has now raised over £80,000 for Saving Young Hearts. All proceeds go to funding research into developing a speedy diagnosis and treatment for Myocarditis, and for providing Sports and Music Development Grants for children aged 5-11.

Stephen's family have spent happy times in Derbyshire, so it is fitting that One Amazing Hike is also held in the Peak District.
