Meet Chloe, a dedicated paediatric nurse whose life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism (PE) at the age of 25. Chloe had been struggling with acne and was prescribed the combined hormonal contraceptive pill as a treatment for this. However, she was unaware that this carried a risk of blood clots, and soon found herself struggling to breath with severe chest pains, unknown to her, Chloe has developed a life-threatening condition – a pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in the lungs). Thanks to the timely intervention at her hospital and information and support from Thrombosis UK, Chloe received treatment and guidance, helping to save her life and make a good recovery.

Every day, countless individuals face the challenges of thrombosis, a condition that can strike anyone, at any age. Thrombosis UK is dedicated to raising awareness, providing support, and funding research to improve the lives of those affected by this condition.
Did you know that worldwide, one in four people die from causes related to blood clots? Additionally, up to 60% of all venous thromboembolism (VTE) cases occur during or following hospitalisation. Thrombosis is the leading cause of preventable hospital deaths, highlighting the critical need for awareness and prevention.
To help us in our work to raise awareness and understanding of blood clots, during March 2025, we invite you to join us for "Bring a Pound to Work Day." By contributing just £1, you can make a significant impact. Your donation will help us continue our vital work, ensuring that more people like Chloe receive the care, information and support they need.
Imagine the difference we can make together. With your help, we can fund educational programs, support groups, and research initiatives that bring us closer to a world where thrombosis is better understood and managed.
Join us in this live saving and live changing work. Please, bring a pound to work during March 2025 and be a part of a community that cares. Together, we can turn small contributions into big changes, offering awareness, information and support that will save lives.
