Story
Transforming Lives in Türkiye
Sports have the power to inspire, unite, and transform lives. They teach leadership, teamwork, and resilience while breaking down barriers and bringing communities together.
Imagine a young girl joining her first football team, a child discovering their passion for tennis, or an aspiring athlete travelling to their first competition.
These moments change lives, but they remain out of reach for many in Türkiye.
The Challenge:
- 88% of Türkiye’s population is physically inactive – one of the highest rates in Europe.
- Women and girls face greater barriers to participating in sport.
- Equipment, training, and travel costs prevent many young athletes from competing.
How We Make a Difference
We believe everyone deserves equal access to sport. That’s why we launched the Sports Giving Circle, a donor-led initiative that funds organisations working to remove these barriers. With your support, we help:
- Provide equipment and travel support for young athletes.
- Increase access to sport for children with disabilities.
- Promote gender equality and inclusion through sport.
- Use sport to strengthen communities and create positive social change.
Our Impact So Far
Launched in 2025, Türkiye Mozaik Foundation’s Sports Giving Circle has provided a total of £40,000 across two funding cycles to the Association for Justice and Rights in Sports (SAHADAYIZ), the Support for Girls Association, and Yalıkavak Sailing Club. The grants support girls’ participation in football, sailing, outdoor sports, and floor curling, while improving access to sport for children with disabilities. With this support:
- A girls’ football team was established in Demre, Antalya, enabling girls to train regularly and prepare for league matches.
- 200 girls have taken part in a new floor curling programme in four schools.
- Girls aged 6-11 have been introduced to outdoor sports such as climbing and slacklining, helping build confidence, resilience, and teamwork.
- Two young female sailors received equipment to compete in races across Türkiye.
- Sports clubs in Hatay, Bartın, Kırklareli, and Adıyaman expanded opportunities for girls, children with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups.
- Eight national team sailors received equipment and training support through Yalıkavak Sailing Club.
