Two Ridings Community Foundation recently administered the Tampon Tax Community Fund. The response was overwhelming, with such a large number of applications leaving the fund hugely oversubscribed. This unprecendented demand for funding highlighted the need for a Women and Girls Fund.
The idea for the fund came about as a result of the long standing partnership between the Rotary club of York and the Two Ridings Community Foundation. Rotarians Sheila Weatherburn and Diana Naish organised a lunch to support the work started by the Tampon Tax grants, and this kick-started Women and Girls.
