Story
Joane is 15 years old and has Type 1 Diabetes.
Where she is from, in Malaysia, families who have a child with Type 1 Diabetes can spend as much as 50% of their income on Insulin and blood testing equipment; care that is free on the NHS.
And this has stopped Joane from achieving her dream.
Joane won TWO gold medals at the Asia-Pacific Schools Taekwondo Championship out of 1,700 people in April. She is VERY good at Taekwondo. But her family cannot afford for her to take the next step towards achieving her dream of reaching the Olympics:
Black belt.
The Black Belt exam costs £240.
Please join Action4Diabetics (A4D) in supporting Joane towards her dream.
Action4Diabetics (A4D) is a UK registered charity that provides free medication and support to disadvantaged young people with Type 1 Diabetes in SE Asia. A4D currently support 368 children with the care they need to survive and, like Joane, live full and active lives.
If untreated, Type 1 Diabetes is fatal. Still, hundreds of young people die from this incurable condition every year through lack of access to medication!
