Typhoon Relief

Campaign by Mercy in Action

Rebuilding Mercy in Action and our community after the flooding and devastation caused by Typhoon Tino.

Our UK projects, Petra, Action Pantry and Clothesline support families in need across the South West by providing accommodation, food, and clothes. In the Philippines, we help street children to regain lost years by providing residential care, a schooling program and a drop-in centre.

Story

On November 5th, Typhoon Tino tore through the communities where Mercy in Action works in the Philippines, leaving devastation in its path. In just a few short hours, years of love, care and hard work were swept away by the storm. Our main building, our children’s home, and much of the surrounding community were severely flooded and damaged. Two of our vehicles were completely destroyed, and many of our staff and the families we support have also lost everything they own.

Mercy in Action has been working in the Philippines for over 25 years, caring for vulnerable children, supporting families in crisis and helping communities build brighter futures. Our buildings were more than just physical spaces they were places of safety, learning, and hope. The children’s home, in particular, has always been a refuge for children who have experienced trauma and loss. Now, it too has suffered immense loss.

When the floodwaters rose, our staff and children were forced to evacuate quickly. The ground floor of our main centre was completely submerged. Furniture, computers, educational supplies, beds, materials, and supplies have all been destroyed. The vehicles we used to deliver food, rescue families and run community programmes are beyond repair.

Despite this devastation, our team is already doing what they do best, helping others! Many of our own staff have lost their homes and possessions, yet they are still showing up every day to support other families. They are distributing emergency food packs, helping clean up homes, and comforting children who have been traumatised by the storm.

We urgently need your help to rebuild. Your donation will help us:

- Rebuild and repair our main centre and children’s home.

- Replace essential items such as beds, furniture, and school materials.

- Provide emergency relief for our staff and partner families who have lost everything.

- Purchase new vehicles so our team can continue reaching remote and affected communities.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a real difference. Mercy in Action has always believed in the power of compassion and community and right now, that community stretches across the world. Together, we can help the children, staff and families affected by Typhoon Tino rebuild their lives and restore hope.
