Story
The Play and Youth Service at UCLH are made up of Play and Activity Workers, Apprentice Health Play Specialists (HPS), Play and Activity Coordinators, Qualified and Registered HPS, Youth Support Coordinators and Advanced HPS Practitioners. We provide developmentally appropriate, high quality healthcare to Babies, Children, Young People and Young Adults (BCYP&YA) from birth – 24 years old across various specialities and health conditions. Supporting BCYP&YA therapeutic, diagnostic and developmental needs through specialised play and recreation interventions, we strive to enhance the patient and family experience during their healthcare journey. Play and recreation is an essential part of childhood and adolescence, as well as being essential for children’s and young people’s mental, social and emotional growth and wellbeing. The play and youth services team facilitates play throughout the various healthcare settings and clinics, ensuring the needs of BCYP&YA are met.
Help us provide high quality, therapeutic play and recreation interventions. We are in need of specialist play resources, equipment and to develop new services to enhance our patients experience in hospital. Additionally, we would love to be able to extend our services to 7 days cover and to all babies, children, young people and young adults accessing healthcare at UCLH.
