Story
As you know, the humanitarian situation is increasingly dire and desperate. Millions of people have no safe place to call home. More than 6 million have already left Ukraine leaving behind everything they've ever known - often including their loved ones, while 10 million people have been displaced and many are without access to food, water and electricity. Countless homes, hospitals and schools continue to be damaged, forcing further evacuations.
The Ukrainian Red Cross Society has been working around the clock to bring hope and support to all those in need, from distributing food parcels to treating people at Red Cross mobile health units across the country.
Here in the UK, British Red Cross teams have been on hand to provide support, financial assistance and a friendly, safe place for people to turn to while they rebuild their lives.
We know the news coverage is overwhelming. But we need your support to keep responding. As the security situation allows, the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will continue to respond to existing and emerging humanitarian needs. The Red Cross has supported people affected by this conflict for years and this will not stop now.
So far, Red Cross and Red Crescent staff and volunteers have been able to support more than 18 million people impacted by the crisis. Red Cross teams in Ukraine have been able to provide healthcare and psychosocial support, door-to-door welfare checks, safe and dignified accommodation, and provide 872 new generators to supply power for vital services.
The Ukraine Crisis Appeal will support people in areas currently affected and those potentially affected in the future by the crisis. In the event that we raise more money than can be reasonably and efficiently spent, any surplus funds will be used to help us prepare for and respond to other humanitarian disasters anywhere in the world.
