Ready set JUMP!?!

Rotary President Chelsea and Rotarian Roger will be doing a charity skydive on Thursday 26th August 2021, to raise money for Umoja.

Umoja is based in Arusha, Northern Tanzania. They provide a safe educational environment for vulnerable children and young adults who have come from backgrounds in abuse, trafficking, poverty and poor well-being, though the schooling system. Umoja provides these individuals with a chance to better their life outcomes and secure higher education or employment.

In May 2019, Chelsea went over to Tanzania to see first hand the work Umoja is doing. She spent time with the students to find out how Umoja helps them with their education and job prospects. She spent time going into their comunities seeing where they live, allowing the opportunity to embrace the local culture. She can't wait to go back!

Umoja has always rented a property which they have outgrown and even have had to use a bathroom as an office so they can get as many students in as possible. They have recently purchased a new site which used to be a school but which has been closed for many years and so needs much renovation. Braunton Caen Rotary has pladged to help support this work and again Chelsea had a chance to look over this property when she was in Tanzania.

So Chelsea and Roger's goal is to help raise funds to go towards the renovation of the library building.
