During the Covid-19 crisis we all need to adapt to new ways of living and working. The Umoja Centre is closed and staff are working from home to continue to support the youth and keep programmes going during this challenging time.
Our students are unable to access online learning or support, so we have designed a new outreach project, to get much needed supplies to them. Twice per month, the Umoja bus will visit each area in Arusha and park in a central place. Students will walk to us and collect a study pack, containing library books and printed worksheets plus soap and a food pack (beans, flour and rice). Without coming to Umoja, our youth have not only lost their education, but their psycho-social support and two meals a day so we are doing our best to take some vital services to them!
Although we have some funds that we can offset to this project as our utilities are slightly lower and food bills have gone down, it is still not enough. Our transport costs, communications costs (providing all staff with phone and data credit) have increased dramatically.
Please support our staff and youth by donating any amount you can so we can get through this time together.
Many thanks.
