Universal Language is an Edinburgh-based apparel business created out of a love for the beautiful game. With uniquely designed t-shirts and sweatshirts celebrating not only iconic goals and legendary players, but everything around match day that makes it special, including stadium signage, bars and even chip shops!
THE WORK OF MND SCOTLAND
For our first-ever Charity Partnership, we have chosen an organisation close to all Hearts fan's hearts. MND Scotland funds ground-breaking research and world-class clinical trials in their mission to create a world without Motor Neurone Disease. At the front line in the fight against MND in Scotland, they also work with those affected and their families, to make their time count through grants to improve quality of life, home improvement, advocates to fight their corner and more.
FORMER CLUB-CAPTAIN MARIUS ZALIUKAS
For the team behind UL, that first football love was Heart of Midlothian, their boyhood club. Having grown up watching a player like Marius Zaliukas in maroon, it was devastating to hear the news of his passing to MND in October 2020 at just 36 years of age.
Christie Aitchison:
“From the earliest concept behind Universal Language it was always a goal to design a t-shirt in memory of Marius Zaliukas. But importantly, we wanted it to make a difference, to truly represent the man he was. Given the important work MND Scotland does, we are delighted they have allowed us to name them our Charity Partner of the Year and donate £5 from every Marius Zaliukas T-Shirt sold.“
