Story

THE NEED

The world changes around us but our education does not always keep pace. China's population, supply chains, geographical diversity, language, modern transformation and potential are enough to fascinate curious young minds. To ensure that the UK remains competitive, it needs to understand China better - and that involves building a 'China-literate' generation.

All school leaders should take China seriously and engage with it in an outside the curriculum. Like it or not, China is going to be the dominant country as young people go forward in their lives" - Sir Anthony Seldon, educator, historian and interim Head, Epsom College

WHAT WE DO:

Founded in 2018 we work on a national level but urgently need to expand our small team so that we can reach more pupils; develop more learning resources & grow our annual, high calibre, international Model United Nations conference. Our work in local communities also supports cross-cultural cohesion & fosters wider community understanding.

WHAT WE DO

Engage with China provides a dramatic, introduction to China through its interactive 'China Challenge Days' bringing a rich cultural experience into the classroom. Taking primary or secondary pupils on a journey to discover links through innovation, history, trade, cultural differences and similarities, language learning and role-play, pupils and their teachers are delighted with the fresh knowledge and cultural capital they acquire, curiosity is unleashed & horizons are broadened. We work in both primary & secondary schools and across the independent and state sectors.

We saw this 'China Challenge Day' from Engage with China as an ideal way to enhance the cultural capital &  knowledge for over 300 of our Year 9 students that they had about China," - Dr Tony Evans, Head, Prince Henry's High School, Evesham

During the China Challenge Day our students made curriculum connections across multiple subjects & enjoyed a cultural experience  in the classroom. Our staff also learned a great deal," - Debbie, Head of MFL

We live in uncertain times. Broadening China-related knowledge and skills amongst the younger generation is vital. Not only will this enrich their lives, it will also build competitive edge and cultural understanding. How? By encouraging our young people to discover more about different perspectives & peoples so that, together, they can become the effective global citizens, leaders, negotiators & entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT

Please support us so that we can double our reach and enable 3,000 more pupils to discover more about China and its impact.

Thank you!
