Keep Us Open

Uptown Youth Services are running short on funds and need donations to help our local youths. We provide a safe space for those who are young careers, disabled or at risk of gang violence/drug culture.

UPTOWN work with young people who have disabilities, are young carers, come from difficult backgrounds or who have become involved in gangs, drugs or other criminal activity. We offer a safe place for young people to try new activities, learn new skills, get advice or support and guidance

Story

Within a youth club environment UPTOWN provides a safe venue to get young people in the borough of Merton off the streets, to meet with friends, play pool and partake in activities such as music, dance and drama, sports, and arts and craft and has also provided homework support: offering a quiet room, access to computers, internet and printers.

Youths with physical and or learning difficulties are fully included in the youth club and encouraged to develop their social skills and make new friends.

Since Merton cut our funding we have been acting as a Charity, applying for grants and funding. However we are in desperate need of donations to keep our doors open and provide services to the young local community in and around South Wimbledon/Colliers Wood.

Previously we have been able to offer the youths activities such as Fire-brigade workshops, first aid training and bike maintenance workshops. We have inspirational speakers come and talk about working lives encouraging the youths to think big about who they can become.
