Story
Urgent Aid for Lebanon
The recent deterioration in the Middle East has contributed to a new wave of insecurity in Lebanon, including intensified cross-border hostilities, missile and rocket fire, and airstrikes affecting several parts of the country.
Hostilities in Lebanon escalated on 2 March 2026, with intense airstrikes reported across multiple areas including South Lebanon, Nabatieh, Beirut, Bekaa, Baalbek-El Hermel, and Mount Lebanon.
The escalation triggered new displacement, movement restrictions, and growing pressure on public services and shelters, particularly for families fleeing south Lebanon and other affected areas.
Repeated strikes across Lebanon have forced tens of thousands of families to flee their homes in South Lebanon, Beirut, and the surrounding areas. Entire families (including girls, boys, parents, and elderly people) have been displaced. Some are seeking temporary shelter in schools, with relatives, or in informal settings, often without access to basic necessities.
This crisis is placing immense pressure on already fragile services and on communities that have been enduring overlapping socio-economic challenges for years, moving from one emergency to the next.

In response, Basmeh & Zeitooneh has activated its emergency response and launched the first phase of rapid assistance both inside and outside collective shelters, focusing on:
- Family hygiene kits
- Shelter cleaning kits
- Menstrual hygiene kits
- Dry food parcels
- Baby kits
- Ready-to-eat kits
- Non-Food Items and Kitchen sets
Our teams are on the ground across Beirut, Mount Lebanon, the South, Bekaa, the North, and Akkar, conducting continuous assessments to ensure that assistance is principled, targeted, and aligned with humanitarian standards. We are also coordinating with relevant working groups and DRR/DRM committees to ensure alignment with national response efforts and avoid duplication.

Together, we can help ease the suffering of those most in need.
Please donate today and stand with families facing unimaginable hardship.
Thank you for your solidarity and support.
