Story

Phoenix Athletics strives to support and elevate our 220+ student-athletes to reach their full potential on the field/court, in the classroom, and in the Northeast Wisconsin community. Developing the next leaders of the region is a major focus for Phoenix Athletics and that mission is empowered through the support of our fans, alumni, donors, and community members.

Why Green Bay Athletics?

Phoenix Athletics aims to help elevate the university’s brand and to be a vital resource to align and engage the university with the community and greater Northeast Wisconsin region. The continual growth of UWGB, and the community impact that stems from that, is only enhanced by the presence of a strong athletics program.

By donating and investing in the Phoenix Athletics programs, you are helping to support these goals by giving our student-athletes the best opportunity to excel in competition, in the classroom, and in the community. Your support directly impacts the enhancement of our Northeast Wisconsin region by helping Phoenix Athletics recruit, teach, and develop student-athletes that will not only success in competition but be a life-long asset to the community and region. Many of these student-athletes will be primed to be the next leaders of the region’s businesses and industry.

Financial support of Green Bay Athletics provides these students:

• Athletics scholarships

• Academic support

• Equipment enhancements

• Efficient travel resources

• Strength and nutrition resources

Institutional Recognition via Athletics

Data shows that athletics plays a vital role in building the profile of a university, with 85% of national and regional media coverage coming through the lens of athletics. Green Bay Athletic strives to be a source of pride and positive spotlight in media coverage.

STUDENT-Athletes

One of the greatest prides of Green Bay Athletics is the ability to boast 48 STRAIGHT semesters of a department GPA of 3.0 or better, most recently accounting this past fall semester and dating back to 2000. These amazing students have also had a 3.3 GPA for the past 18 straight semesters!

As a whole in the fall 2023 semester, Phoenix student-athletes attained a semester GPA of 3.54, with eight of 14 varsity programs finishing with GPA’s of 3.65 or higher. The other six all achieved at least a 3.25 GPA. The 3.54 GPA is the second-highest mark for the entire department since the streak began in the Spring of 2000. An amazing track record when taking into account the number of hours student-athletes have to put in for training, competition, and more!

RISING Leaders

When you support Green Bay Athletics, you also support the development and growth of some of the region’s best leaders and coaches. Since the beginning of 2023, Green Bay has had five of our ten coaches receive Horizon League Coach of the Year awards.

Northeast Wisconsin’s Division I Program

Green Bay is only one of four Division I programs in the state of Wisconsin, and the only D-1 program north of Madison & Milwaukee. Division I Athletics brings more visibility and can be a source of pride for a growing university and community. The long term success of these programs can only enhance that visibility and help build the university’s brand.
