Story

NEWSAR is raising funds to replace our current stock of five vacuum mattresses as they reach the end of their operational life span.

Vacuum mattresses are medical devices and essential kit for the extraction of injured casualties from hard to reach, remote and hazardous places.

Used with our specialist stretchers, air is pumped out of the mattress making it rigid, cocooning the casualty providing pain relief, neck and spine stability.

The injured person is then secure and as comfortable as possible ready to be moved. NEWSAR team members often need to carry the stretcher over difficult terrain, in the dark and in atrocious weather to meet a county ambulance at the roadside or to a suitable clearing for a hand over guard helicopter paramedics so that the casualty can receive further medical treatment and onward transport to hospital.

Thank you for supporting our campaign with a donation.

NEWSAR is a local registered charity that depends on public donations.
