The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
We provide free, confidential and impartial advice and campaign on big issues affecting people’s lives. We’re a small local charity and part of the Citizens Advice network across England and Wales. Whatever your problem, no matter how big or small, we are here to help you find a way forward.
Story
It's a lighthearted appeal, but with a very serious message.
East Herts has been named the UK's best place to live according to the Halifax Quality of Life survey 2020.
However, that's not quite the full story and in spite of living in East Herts, for many people in our community, life can still be a struggle.
It's often harder to be poor in the midst of affluence than it is to be poor in stereotypical poor areas. Services, funding, staffing, grants etc. all gravitate to the poorer areas, even within the County, and so those who are in poverty in richer areas are left even more isolated and excluded.
The problems people face can have a severe impact on their lives. It doesn't matter whether we consider ourselves "rich" or "poor". That's why Citizens Advice East Herts is here for everyone, providing support and advice to anyone who needs it, at a level which is right for them.
They were amazing when our life fell apart. Without them, I don't think I would be here.
As an independent local charity, we are immensely grateful to the community and our local councils for their ongoing support. However, cuts to our funding in 2020/21 mean that we need support more than ever, so that we can continue to provide the free, confidential, impartial advice needed by people living or working in East Herts.
And so we are asking: is there anything you could do to contribute to helping your community?
A donation or some Valentine's fundraising, maybe? Perhaps, as it's 14/02/20, you could spare £1.40, £14.02, £140.22 ...? Whatever you feel you can give, it will be greatly appreciated.
