Story

Vega’s Journey — Help Her Access Life-Changing Therapy

Vega is a joyful, intelligent, and sociable 4 year old girl from Cheshire. She’s obsessed with Kipper the Dog, loves all things girly, and adores playing with her little sister and her dog. One of her favorite things is reading books on her eye gaze device — she’s even taught herself to read and is doing brilliantly with her spelling!

Though she can’t yet speak, Vega communicates beautifully through her eye gaze, showing off her bright personality, sharp mind, and love for life.

Vega was born at full term after a healthy pregnancy. However, complications during birth led to a severe brain injury, resulting in Dyskinetic Cerebral Palsy, a condition that affects her entire body. She spent the first month of her life in neonatal care, and since then, every day has been a journey of courage and determination.

Despite the challenges, Vega works incredibly hard. She follows a home therapy program with her mum for hours each day and recently completed an intensive therapy block with Smile Therapy for Kids — and the results were incredible.

Following her first stem cell treatment in 2023, Vega has made life-changing progress:

• Stronger trunk control

• Improved feeding and more babbling

• Beginning to sit on her own

• Stepping and army crawling initiation

• Increased engagement and overall strength

These gains have given Vega and her family so much hope.

We’re now raising funds to help Vega access further intensive therapies and specialist equipment not funded by the NHS, including:

• Intensive therapy at Smile Therapy for Kids, NAPA Center, SwimLab, and others

• Feeding/speech intensives with VitalStim Stafford or NJPFA

• Neuro-rehabilitation at NeuroSolutions Atlanta

• Custom orthotics like TheraTogs, AFOs, and supportive equipment for movement and communication

These therapies offer Vega the best chance to reach her potential — to sit, to crawl, to play more independently, and one day, to walk.

If you can donate, share, or support in any way, you’re becoming part of Vega’s village. Every penny and every share makes a real difference.
