As winter approaches all our rescues return to the sanctuary from their summer grazing.when they arrive they all have a health check to ensure they are fit and ready for Winter. All our animals are treated immediately. We want all our animals to remain healthy and happy.
We have our 4 rescues from earlier this year and whilst three making good progress, sadly one was identified as having serious liver problems. We are trying our best to keep him happy during these last few months and will monitor him to prevent suffering. His other three friends will stay with us in their forever home and will continue on the recovery journey thanks to you.
This week we also have the equine dentist visiting. This is essential for our older horses to ensure they can eat and graze easily to maintain their health.
We continue to microchip our rescue ponies and arrange for them to have passports. This is essential for them to be able to be rehomed but obviously it comes with a cost.
Some of our rescue ponies are also due for castration as our castration programme continues to prevent indiscriminate breeding.
We still continue to treat our horses and ponies that need daily medication to maintain their health. Some have Cushing's disease and other long term conditions, that are all manageable with daily medication.
But at this time of year our veterinary costs increase by an eye watering amount. That's why we are asking our amazing supporters to help once again
