Providence Row has been supporting people who are homeless or vulnerable housed in East London since 1860. We support people who have nowhere else to turn to, to get the help and support they deserve to live a life free from the cycle of homelessness and social isolation.
We support people to tackle the root causes of homelessness through crisis intervention, advice, support and recovery programs. We provide assistance with housing, address mental and physical health needs, support with overcoming addictions and provide training and employment support.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, a homeless crisis already existed in London, with over 10,000 people sleeping on the streets last year. Sadly, the economic fallout of the pandemic is leading to a rise in homelessness, unemployment and poor mental health. It is therefore essential that we are able to meet the needs of vulnerable people in our city through our support services.
Sophie has kindly shared her experience of sleeping rough during the pandemic and her journey to recovery. You can find out more here: https://www.providencerow.org.uk/stories/21-sophie-s-story.
