Virtual Walk for Wards

Organised by Royal Free Charity

Walk for Wards to support NHS staff in your own way, in your own time. As a virtual group, family, school or as an individual. You decide the distance, whether it is indoors or outside and if there is a fancy dress code or if it is rainbow themed.

The Royal Free Charity supports staff and patients across the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. From small acts of kindness to huge investments in research, everything we do changes lives for the better. We support our hospitals to go further, faster – delivering impact locally and globally.

Story

Every day nurses on wards in our Royal Free and Barnet hospitals are putting their lives on the line to care for our loved ones during this covid19 pandemic. They have told us they need emotional, physical and psychological support to help them cope with the everyday challenges they are facing.

Walk for wards is an opportunity for individuals, families or community groups and schools to come together virtually and say thank you in your own way, in your own time.

During your lock down exercise hour you can complete your own walk and donate or raise sponsorship to help support our NHS staff. You decide the distance, whether it is indoors or outside and if there is a fancy dress code or if it is rainbow themed. You can do it on one day, over a week or a few days.

With your support our local NHS Heroes will have access to well-being and respite areas with free hot meals and snacks during their long shifts. We'll also provide accommodation for staff who cannot go home to vulnerable loved ones, as well as care packs and food parcels for those recovering from the virus.
