Voices of Aphasia Sponsored Inclusive Cycling Challenge

Organised by Voices of Aphasia

On Saturday 14th June 2025, our choir members, met at Odd Down Cycle Track in Bath. Using adaptive bikes from All Cycle Bath And West, we completed 70 laps as a team, to raise money for the Bath Aphasia Choir.

Voices of Aphasia is a Bath-based charity delivering specialist accessible choirs for people affected by aphasia (communication difficulties after stroke or brain injury). People with aphasia can have difficulty speaking but can often still sing fluently. Our flagship project is the Bath Aphasia Choir, led by Music Therapists Laura Cook and Denise Wong.

Story

On Saturday 14th June 2025 (after we had to postpone our originally planned date of 7th June!), members of the Bath Aphasia Choir took on a very special sponsored challenge to raise money for our charity Voices of Aphasia.

We have previously had amazing support from loved ones of our choir members who have run the Bath Half, so we wanted to hold an event which is accessible for everyone including our choir members who have had a stroke.

We had access to the full selection of adaptive bikes and instructors from All Cycle Bath and West, including hand bikes, recumbent tricycles and trikes with wheelchair platforms. We worked as a team to see how many laps we could complete of the Odd Down Cycle Track. Even though our hour on the track was interrupted by 20 minutes of ridiculously heavy rain when we had a singing break, we managed to complete 70 laps between us!

The money raised will allow us to continue running the Bath Aphasia Choir and singing with our amazing members. You can find out more about our charity on our website.
