In 2020 Vox Holloway was due to celebrate its tenth anniversary year with an ambitious programme of six concerts and two recordings. Sadly, because of Covid we have had to cancel all our concerts since March. We know it may be some time before we will be able to rehearse together in person and perform for a live audience. We are very concerned about the implications of this for the professional musicians who work with us. They lead the choir, compose and arrange our music, write the libretti, perform as soloists and play at our concerts. Although we have been running rehearsals online since May, because we have no concert income, the support we have been able to give them has been limited. That is why we are asking for your help.
We are delighted to be streaming our second Virtual Vox concert at 7.30pm on Friday 27 November on the Vox Holloway YouTube channel. The video will be available until 6.30pm on Sunday 29 November.
VIRTUAL VOX perform the Celebrated MR D (le Page) and MR H (Brough)s most excellent arrangement of the Beatles NOTED album SERGEANT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND.
Featuring a fabulous line up of musicians and soloists.
Singers: Jeremy Taylor, Clara Sanabras, Christina Gill, Wills Morgan, Rick Leigh, Harvey Brough Michael Henry and Nicholas Garrett.
Players: David le Page (Concert Meister) Catherine Leech (viola), Clare O'Connell (violoncello), Raph Mizraki ( contrabass), Stuart King (clarinet), Liam Dunachie (piano)
and Chris Vatalaro (drums).
WITH the 130 virtual singers of VIRTUAL VOX who will be singing with us at home. We hope that you will be singing with us too as you probably already know all the lyrics.
Virtual Vox is directed by Harvey Brough and Christina Gill.
Special thanks to Tom Piper for set design.
A SPLENDID TIME IS GUARANTEED FOR ALL
We fund our weekly choir rehearsals through fees paid by members but we rely on donations to pay for the musicians who perform in our concerts. We are not charging for the concert, so anyone can join us, but we are asking those who can to make a contribution to our Artists' Support Fund. We recognise that many people have been badly hit by the current situation and may not feel able to contribute but we also know that there are others whose financial situation is more stable and who would like to help. We welcome any contribution you can make and we will make sure that everything you contribute to this campaign will go our musicians.
