Story
We recently suffered a devastating outbreak of bird flu in our wildlife unit. As you might imagine, this horrific situation has hit both staff and volunteers extremely hard, and as a result of the outbreak we had to immediately close the wildlife unit and put more than 100 birds to sleep. Since then we have been working closely with Defra and specialist contractors in order to put in place the rigorous programme of cleansing and disinfection that is necessary to eliminate this awful disease. Due to the intricacies of the cleansing programme and the highly infectious nature of the disease, this painstaking work could take up to three months to complete, and the total cost of the clean-up is likely be in the region of £25,000. This is money that would otherwise be spent directly on the dogs, cats, rabbits, and other animals in our care. Please help us to get through this dreadful ordeal by donating to our Emergency Appeal. Thank you in advance for any support that you are able to give.
