Wadars is a Worthing (UK) based Charity established in 1969. The main objectives of the Charity are the rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife and the rescue and rehoming of domestic animals. We rely solely on Donations, Legacies and Fundraising to keep us running.

Story

We are holding a children's short story writing competition this autumn to help raise funds for Wadars animal rescue.

The theme is "Donald the Cat's Great Adventure" and we are looking for stories of up to 500 words that are inspired by this theme. The competition will be judged by TV weather presenter and best-selling author Carol Kirkwood.

The competition is open to two age groups: 7-11 years and 12-16 years with great prizes on offer for the winners. The entry fee is £2, with all proceeds going to Wadars Animal Rescue. The deadline for entries is 6pm on 12th November 2023.

Children can submit stories by post or in person to Wadars, Hangleton Lane, Ferring, BN12 6PP or by email to jenny@wadars.co.uk

They must include their name, telephone number and age on their entry

Competition rules

• The cost is £2 to enter

• Entries must be received by 6pm on Sunday 12th November 2023

• Only one entry per person

• 500-word limit per story

• Stories must be the writer's own, original work

• The child’s name, age and contact details must be included with their story

• Entrants in this competition must be aged 7-11 years or 12-16 years

• UK Mainland entrants only

• Copyright remains with the author

• By submitting an entry you are consenting to Wadars animal rescue sharing the story on social media, the Wadars website, in our newsletters and in the local press
