Story
Hello!
I’m Lowri and I am walking/running 360km (12km a day) throughout the month of June for the wonderful charity Sight Life (Cardiff Institute for the Blind).
My mother, actress Ruth Madoc, was a proud, long time supporter and Patron for this vital charity who help blind and partially sighted people across South Wales.
Mum passed suddenly in December 2022 and the loss for myself, the family and for all those who knew her has been devastating. Mum was a very caring and giving person who supported numerous charities throughout her life, often putting in many hours to raise awareness for incredible causes. It was Sight Life she proudly worked with in her final years.
Follow me on this challenging journey (particularly juggling family life with 3 teenagers and other normal life commitment’s) in June which I am excited to take on in memory of my beautiful mum and her beloved charity. Thank you for your support and any donation you wish to make goes directly to Sight Life.

About Sight Life:
Sight Life will use the funds raised to outreach to the ever-increasing number of people with sight loss in South Wales.
The World Health Organisation predicts sight loss will double by 2050. People with sight loss are twice as likely to experience unhappiness or depression, and only 35% report good life satisfaction compared to the UK average of 58%.
Formerly Cardiff Institute for the Blind, Sight Life is one of Wales’ oldest charities. We support blind and partially sighted people across South Wales—Cardiff, Swansea, and Rhondda Cynon Taf—through our Cardiff Activity and Resource Centre, home visits, community groups, and 1:1 sessions.
