Story
The Joshua Tree is a charity dedicated to providing support to families affected by childhood cancers. Our services are designed to help improve the emotional health and wellbeing of families navigating the challenges of a cancer diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and bereavement, ensuring that no family faces their journey alone.
Our family-focused support extends to parents, siblings, and the children themselves, recognising the profound impact cancer has on every family member. We offer a range of services, including counselling, therapeutic activities, peer support groups, family fun events and educational guidance.
Our support centres in Cheshire and Colwyn Bay are welcoming, safe spaces where families can access tailored support designed to uplift and empower them during difficult times.
Driven by compassion and a commitment to making a difference, The Joshua Tree relies on the generosity of supporters, volunteers, and corporate partnerships to continue delivering vital services. Together, we create lasting memories, emotional resilience and brighter futures for families facing childhood cancers.
Walk Tall for The Joshua Tree is a two-day walking event designed to bring together families affected by childhood cancer, along with their friends and supporters, in a powerful show of unity and strength.
Taking place on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st September, this inspiring challenge covers approximately 30 miles across two beautiful routes.
On Day One, walkers will set off from our Cheshire Support Centre in Sandiway, venturing through scenic countryside and woodlands to Blakemere Craft Centre, where a rest stop and refreshments await. The circular route returns to Sandiway, offering views of rolling fields, hedgerows, and the peace of rural Cheshire.
Day Two begins at our North Wales hub in Colwyn Bay and follows the stunning coastline along the North Wales Coastal Path to Llandudno Pier. This flatter, breezier route offers panoramic sea views, fresh coastal air, and a real sense of clarity and calm. After a well-deserved pause at the pier, walkers will return to Colwyn Bay to complete the weekend journey.
This isn’t just a walk. It’s a shared journey. A tribute to the courage of children and families living through and beyond childhood cancer. Whether individuals are walking in honour of a loved one, to support our mission, or as part of their own healing, Walk Tall is a chance for people to stand shoulder to shoulder with a community who understands.
