Story
On Friday 12th April our challenge is a walk of 35 miles in under 10 hours! We’ll start at Bembridge in the east, finishing in Alum Bay in the west, and following the coastal path of the Isle of Wight. The walk has a total ascent of 4,712 feet which is 300 feet higher than Ben Nevis and a total descent of 4,490 feet.
After an early crossing across the Solent and drive to the starting point, we will follow the Isle of Wight Coastal Path which combines chalk hills rising above the English Channel, the occasional inlet and beach, agricultural footpaths and even an urban street or two. All the time looking across the spectacular views out to sea.
Eikon provides vital support to young people in Surrey who are experiencing early signs of poor emotional wellbeing or mental health. Your support will help give young people somewhere to turn when they are struggling with a range of serious challenges, such as experiencing anxiety, loneliness, family loss, or being the target of bullying or abuse.
By providing a safe place for young people to turn, Eikon helps prevent unnecessary harm and even saves lives. In partnership with schools, communities, health & social care and other organisations, Eikon helps young people to feel supported and respond positively to life's challenges and thrive.
What can your fundraising achieve?
£100 can help provide a lunch club for a group of students. This can be the first time a young carer feels they can relax and have fun with their peers.
£50 can help give a child confidential time with an Eikon practitioner. These sessions can be the first time a young person feels safe enough to open up about what's worrying them.
£25 can help a young person feel less anxious and more prepared to start secondary school through our workshops.
Thank you so so much for helping me. Every day that I am here on this earth is thanks to you.
When you listen to me, it makes me feel accepted, understood, important, valued, and validated. It gives me a voice to help me find myself again. It reminds me that I am not invisible or alone.
I'm so thankful that my son has had some space to talk through what’s going on and find understanding.
