The Big Walk 2020

Every September, hundreds come along to our Sheeps Head Hikes, September Strolls and Laganside Walks. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, things are different this year. This Autumn, we want you to walk with us wherever you are!
Every September, hundreds come along to our Sheeps Head Hikes, September Strolls and Laganside Walks. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, things are different this year. This Autumn, we want you to walk with us wherever you are!
We've been holding Christian Aid walks in September for over a decade now, with hundreds coming along each year to our Sheep's Head Hikes, September Strolls and Laganside Walks.
Sadly, this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, we are unable to run these events like we usually would. So we're mixing things up a bit.
This Autumn, we want you to walk with us wherever you are! You set the time and place, we set the challenge: 2,142km throughout the month of September, as together we walk the length of the Nicaraguan border.
As we stroll or hike during the month of September, we'll be raising money for people facing crisis around the world. People like Angela and her family in Nicaragua.
Angela's coffee farm used to provide a good living for her family. But now she's facing a crisis. The changing climate in Nicaragua means her coffee harvests are shrinking every year. But there is hope.
Supported by Christian Aids local partner, Soppexcca, Angela's community is coming together as a local cooperative to share resources and knowledge so that they can urgently protect their livelihoods. They're helping farmers shift from coffee production to climate-resistant cocoa, safeguarding their income from climate shocks.
Hike, stroll and stand in solidarity with your global neighbours this September.
