This project is a beautiful act of Sadaqah Jaariya (ongoing charity) for you and loved ones.
The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings upon him said, "All of a person's action cease after his demise except three. (They are) ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge or a righteous child who prays for him." (Sahih of Imam Muslim #1631)
Mosques and Islamic organisations rely on donations, grants and the altruism of generous individuals to maintain educational, welfare and other projects.
The ongoing charity mentioned in the hadith above carried the meaning of endowments. This was initially instructed by the Prophet to Umar ibn al-Khattab who placed certain lands of Makkah as endowments to help sustain the communal enterprises mentioned previously. This practice became known as waqf and was practiced among previous generations. Many Muslims left behind a portion of their inheritance toward such waqf funds to enable learning seminaries, mosques, orphanages and many other philanthropic organisations.
A waqf support fund is a source of money that is donated to an organisation to be invested primarily in estate (land and property investments) to generate a regular income.
Among the projects we will be undertaking is creating a spiritual environment at the hub that caters for the needs of our current day and age. We endeavour to facilitate all forms of education with modern classroom settings and lecture theatre and to also provide a third space for recreational and vocational activities. Alleviating poverty and furnishing as many opportunities for everyone in our society is at the heart of our objectives. Ultimately together we can realise our potential to empower all those around us to be efficacious in today's society.
We hope you can open your hearts and share in this vision with us for a brighter future for everyone.
