Story
One of the defining aspects of our traditional church building, the high ceilings and spacious interiors, present added complexities to retaining warmth.
The beauty of our building comes at a price; the current outdated heating system simply lacks the capability to sufficiently warm these large spaces.
Last winter, some people had no choice but to stay away from church due to the freezing temperatures inside the building. The elderly members of our congregation, in particular, found it difficult to bear the cold, with some even experiencing blue fingers during communion which was heartbreaking to see.
The current heating system is not only inefficient, and costly to maintain, it simply cannot keep up with the demands of our growing congregation.
To address these issues, we have developed a comprehensive plan to update and improve our church's heating system.
We expect this to include:
Replacing the central heating system with a modern, more energy-efficient solution (around £1,000 per radiator + install and works)
Installing power to the front 6 pews to provide additional heating options, such as heated blankets/infrared heaters, to provide targeted warmth to whom it is needed most.
Purchasing blankets to offer extra comfort for those who need it during services.
The estimated cost for these improvements is £30,000
This investment will not only provide immediate relief from the cold but ensure a sustainable and cost- effective heating solution for years to come.
We expect to start this install no later than the 1st November in order to be ready for winter.
To raise the funds needed for this project, we have planned a multi-layered approach, including:
DIRECT PLEDGES (22 OCT - 10:30 /16:30) - We invite members of our congregation and the wider community to make a financial pledge towards the project. No amount is too small, and every contribution brings us closer to our goal.
COMMUNITY FUNDRAISING: We need your help hosting various events such as bake sales, bingo, and quiz nights to raise funds and bring our community together in support of the project.
LARGE SPONSORED EVENTS: We are planning at least one significant event to raise awareness and generate substantial funds for the project. To kick us off, on the 22 October 2023 Rev. Michael will be running a sponsored marathon, 26.2 miles, starting at Church after the 10.30 service, passing c.10 churches within our deanery and ending back at Garstang St. Thomas in time for the 16.30 service!!
We thank you for your support and look forward to celebrating the completion of the project with you.
