Story
During the winter months, should our older and vulnerable neighbours have to choose between heating and eating?
Each year, we run our Warm this Winter appeal to tackle fuel poverty and to keep the older and vulnerable residents who are experiencing financial hardship across our county fed, warm and well as the cold weather hits. This appeal has been running every winter since 2010 and has raised over £255,000 to protect some of the most vulnerable members of our local communities.
Don't need it? Donate it!
We are appealing to anyone who receives the Government Winter Fuel payment, who can afford to forego this payment and donate some or all of it to our Warm this Winter appeal. Your donation will support those for whom this fuel payment is not nearly enough.
Don't receive this payment? We still welcome your donations and would be so grateful for your support!
Over 18% of the population in North and West Northamptonshire are pensioners, many of whom are already extremely anxious about rising bills. The ongoing cost of living crisis means that this winter will be one of the toughest we have faced for decades. Too many older people across Northamptonshire will find themselves living in fuel poverty and our Warm this Winter Fund will provide them with a lifeline.
“The winter months can be harsh for many people but especially for the old and vulnerable. I donated to the Winter Wellbeing Appeal in the hope that extra funds can help to keep vulnerable people safe and warm in winter.”
At Northamptonshire Community Foundation, we fund local grassroots organisations and charities who are best placed to offer lifechanging support to our most in-need communities. In the last six months we have awarded over £1 million to these groups; we urgently need to raise further funds to help tackle fuel poverty as we enter winter.
Your donation, however big or small, will help those who will face financial hardship to stay fed, warm and healthy during winter. Every penny raised will be passed on to those in greatest need here in Northamptonshire.
With your donation we can ensure those who are less fortunate can stay warm, safe and healthy this winter.
All donations will make a big impact to help improve the lives of those in need.
If you are eligible to receive the Governments Winter Fuel Payment and if you can afford to forego this, please consider donating some or all of your payment to our appeal.
