The Windmill is the heart of our foundation. This Community hub is a multi-purpose space for both disabled children and parent/carers, complete with an accessible changing facility, cinema and sensory room. The Windmill is a safe and welcoming venue for our families to gather, learn and enjoy the ever growing range of activities and services and they love it!

We are so happy to have a permanent new venue for our families to host:

Young Carers Club - Art Therapy Yoga - Small Group Play Sessions - cinema sessions - Lego Therapy - Story Time (multi-language) - Craft Days - Sing-a-long Sessions - Counselling - Wheelchair Fitness - Bereavement Counselling - Legal Advice Drop in - Talking Therapies - Holistic Therapies - Coffee mornings - Early Years support - Meditation/Mindfullness sessions - First Aid Training...and many many more!

Unfortunately the unit doesn't have a heating system and despite the fact that we have insulated the ceilings it is still very cold.

We, of course , are happy to work with our coats and mittens on but the lack of heating is proving problematic for our children , many who cannot self regulate their temperatures and those that have limited mobility and wheelchair users, so the usual 'run around and get warm' doesn't apply. We have resorted to using fan heaters when we host events but this certainly ramps up our electricity bill.

We have consulted with energy experts and the most cost effective form of heating would be the installation of an air conditioning unit which will adequately heat the space (and cool it in summer). A local company has agreed to supply the unit at cost which is fantastic but all our budget for The Windmill has been spent on getting the place up and running as we receive no government funding despite providing an essential service.
