Story
We’re back with a brand new route, but the same incredible cause.
On Saturday 17th April 2027, participants will walk, jog or run 52km from Melksham to The Base Youth Centre (WAY HQ) in Swindon, following the Kennet and Avon Canal, the White Horse Trail and the Ridgeway.
And why 52km? Because it represents the 52,000 children and young people living in Swindon.
Every step is helping to raise vital funds for WAY, Swindon’s young person-led charity, and our work supporting children and young people to overcome disadvantage and thrive.
Changing the story for Swindon’s children and young people
We believe in a better story for Swindon, one shaped by the community and the opportunities we create for its young people.
Children and young people across Swindon face real challenges, including poverty, difficulties accessing education and employment, mental health crises, crime and exploitation, and barriers linked to disadvantage and marginalisation.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
WAY delivers high-impact, sustainable projects that help children and young people build positive relationships, develop skills, access opportunities and create lasting change in their lives.
A £500 donation helps WAY support one child or young person facing disadvantage in Swindon for six months, whether they are experiencing a mental health crisis, affected by crime or violence, struggling to access education or employment, from a low-income family, or part of a marginalised community.
Take on the challenge
Whether you’re an experienced long-distance walker, a keen runner OR it’s your first time and you’re looking for a challenge that will push you outside your comfort zone, WAY52 is open to you.
The route is beautifully scenic, taking in the Kennet and Avon Canal, Devizes, the White Horse Trail and the chalky heights of the Ridgeway before heading into Swindon.
There will be support stops along the way with water and snacks, lunch around halfway, and a support vehicle available if the challenge becomes too much.
52km is a long way, but together, every step can help change the story for Swindon’s children and young people.
Please consider donating and helping us support more young people across Swindon.
Thank you for helping us make every step count.
