The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileA singing grade-a-thon is a bit like a marathon with the running replaced with a singing exam! We train hard to learn the requirements of the exam and hopefully you'll sponsor us as you would a runner!
Some 35-45% of our income comes from our 12 performances, events and tours each year, none of which can happen due to COVID (c £15k). We've tightened our belts but remain determined to retain our small but excellent musical and administrative team throughout the crisis - this means we need your help to raise £5k to ensure we can continue from September and beyond.
Warwickshire Choristers has adopted a "We Can" attitude to COVID. We have held weekly rehearsals (including in person when it was allowed), made several virtual recordings and prepared for (cancelled!) competitions. [Oh and we started a new Junior Girls' Choir to increase the reach of our work!]
We've chosen a grade-a-thon (rather than a cake sale or a traditional marathon) because we want the young people in our care to gain musical skills that will stay with them for life.
What better way to celebrate their efforts over the past year than to work towards a nationally recognised musical certificate? We'll be doing Grade 3 for the younger Choristers and Grade 5 for those with more experience. It'll be hard work in such a short period of time but I know the determination will pay off! - Ben Hamilton, Conductor
Thank you for helping support our work - and we look forward to welcoming you to a concert soon!
