We have been operating since April 2020, initially starting as a local support group for people affected by Covid, (collecting food, prescriptions, or just someone to talk to) over time this grew and in December 2020 we started our food support project.
This comprised of us collecting, sorting, bagging and delivering food every week, supporting up to 100 people every week.
The Walton Community Council expressed an interest in what we were doing and after months of preparation, we were finally able to open the food bank, which was opened on December 19th by the Mayor of Milton Keynes.
We are currently open 3 times a week on a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday between 11am and 12pm and we aim to be the difference for as many people as we can possibly cater to.
We need to be able to provide a constant supply of food, but we also run a children's' clothes exchange, as well as occasionally providing ad hoc items that we get offered.
As with any charity, we rely on our community to support us and enable us to continue helping as many people as possible. You can donate money, or time, or non perishable foods. You can also find out more by contacting us on wcsproject@mail.com.
Thank you very much for whatever you can donate. We have very limited overheads and as such the vast majority of your donation will go directly to helping people.
We have no wage bill, everyone is a volunteer; our overheads consist of Public Liability Insurance and then things like hand soap, paper towels, rubbish bags and other things that enable us to operate.
We are a formally registered charity and are registered with the Charity Commission under number 1199332.
