Who we are

Emmaus Leicestershire & Rutland is a Hinckley-based homelessness charity. We empower people to rebuild their lives and move forward after homelessness. We provide tailored support, working alongside each person to help them take positive steps towards greater independence. We help people build skills and grow in confidence. We support people to move on to the next stage in their lives, helping them find accommodation and explore opportunities such as training or work, where this is right for them.

Our Emporium charity shop helps fund this work by selling furniture and homeware donated by our local community; we use our van to run our free furniture collections service – collecting donated items to be sold.

Why we need a replacement van

Our van keeps Emmaus moving. We use it to collect donated furniture and homeware, which we sell in the Emporium. The income funds the charity’s work, and the van also delivers purchases to customers.

Every sofa, table, and wardrobe we collect helps provide homes, support, and opportunities for people rebuilding their lives. But when the van is off the road, we have to turn away donations and sometimes hire a replacement - costing money and making it harder to keep the Emporium stocked.

How your donation helps

We urgently need to raise £18,000 to buy a reliable second-hand van - one that can safely carry furniture, keep our Emporium running, and continue our free collection service.

“Emmaus has given me a safe place to live and the support I needed to move forward,” says Steve, who is rebuilding his life with the charity. “Helping with the van service and working in the shop has boosted my confidence and made me proud of what I’m able to do.”
