Story
Go purple for a purpose
Every older person deserves to feel safe, respected and valued. But for too many, abuse and neglect are a hidden reality, including here in Solihull.
This World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, we’re asking our community to come together, take a stand, and help us shine a light on an issue that is too often overlooked.
On or around Monday 15 June, we’re inviting you to wear, do, make or bake something purple — the colour of dignity — and donate to Age UK Solihull.
Your support will help us reach older people who may be isolated, frightened, or at risk, and ensure they have somewhere to turn.
Why Your Donation Matters
Your generosity helps us to:
- Provide confidential support to older people experiencing or at risk of abuse or neglect
- Offer advice and practical help when someone feels unsafe
- Reduce isolation by connecting people with trusted services and support
- Raise awareness across Solihull so more people know the signs of abuse
- Ensure older people have a voice, and someone who will listen
Every pound you give helps us protect vulnerable older people in our borough.
How You Can Get Involved
On or around 15 June, simply either:
- WEAR something purple
- DO something fun, bold or eye‑catching in purple
- MAKE something, and sell your creations, or hold a crafts session that people pay to join
- BAKE purple cakes or treats and raise funds with a bake sale
Then share your purple photos, tag us, and encourage others to join in.
And please DONATE what you can to support our work.
Thank you for standing with us and helping protect older people in our community.
