TO PROMOTE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF THE CITY OF WELLS AND THE SURROUNDING VILLAGES THE PROVISION OF A MULTIPURPOSE, WHEELED SPORTS PARK ALLOWING FOR BMX, SKATEBOARDING, CYCLING, ROLLER SKATING / BLADING AND SCOOTERING

Story

Wells Skatepark Community Group was formed by community members to raise awareness of how important Skateparks are to the community and to work with the local council to provide a sustainable, long lasting park that will increase accessibility to all, improve physical and mental well-being and provide invaluable social benefit, community cohesion and individual resilience to those who use it.

The community of Wells want a Skatepark to be suitable for skateboards, scooters, roller skaters and BMX and a safe place where parents are skating with and teaching their children, young people offering tips to older riders and older riders supporting young riders.

The current skatepark is now becoming unsafe, the ground is not suitable for skaters, roller skaters or younger learners and the wooden boards are expensive to replace.

We want a modern skatepark to be proud of where the community come together to have fun and challenge themselves in a modern, safe, landscaped environment.

I use the skatepark most days when it's dry and usually use skateboarding and scootering as an escape ... my friends and I do suffer from a lot of mental health issues such as autism, depression, anxiety etc, it really helps us focus on what we love and gives us motivation to carry on and become someone in the community. Young skater/scooter rider, Wells

I think the whole community would benefit from a more useable outdoor space which would accommodate all ages and abilities of skater. Wells needs a safe, welcoming, inclusive space for young people of all ages. Emma, Wells Roller Hockey & Skate Club

Wells skatepark has remained the same since I was skating there in 2006. I think its about time something was done to improve the layout and the facilities. It would be good for the younger generation to have a nice area to hang out and stay out of trouble. Older skater, Wells

As someone who grew up in Wells and now has a young daughter, I feel it is extremely important to have decent areas for youth to be able to go. There are so few places in Wells. Parent
