Transform Lives This Winter: Help Women in Malawi Build Sustainable Futures
This winter, Tools for Self Reliance is asking for your help to raise the final £6,000 needed to launch a life-changing business development programme for 120 women in Malawi.
Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world, with two-thirds of the population living below the poverty line. Women make up a large part of the informal workforce, yet face huge barriers: limited access to training, financial exclusion, and early marriage often stand in the way of a brighter future.
Working with the Young Achievers Foundation (YAF) in Malawi, this programme gives women the tools, guidance and confidence to start or grow their own businesses. With your support, they will receive:
Tailored business skills training
Mentorship in bookkeeping, pricing, and customer management
Support to write business plans and set financial goals
Awareness training on sexual and reproductive rights
Access to financial services and savings
The opportunity to pitch for a start-up grant
Every donation makes a real difference.
Enneta, who joined a similar programme in 2024 while running a small grocery stall, received a start-up grant and the skills she needed to grow her business. Today, her income has doubled, helping her support her family — while her friends who didn’t receive training have had to close their businesses.
Tailors Bridget and Milika used their grant to invest in tools, rent, and advertising. Their income now exceeds £100 a month, and they serve over 40 customers, providing stability and security for their families.
My wellbeing has improved tremendously" - Bridget
With just £6,000, we can unlock the full programme for 120 women, giving them the chance to transform their lives and the lives of their families. Donations fund workshops, mentoring, start-up grants, and financial guidance - essential tools that can break the cycle of poverty.
If we raise more than our target, every extra pound will support other women’s empowerment projects across Africa, helping even more women take control of their futures.
This Christmas, your gift can give women in Malawi the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to build sustainable livelihoods.
Please help us make it happen.
