Story
The Challenge
This July, a dedicated team from Wheels for All will take on an incredible 121-mile cycling challenge from Kendal to Newcastle to raise vital funds for inclusive cycling.
Over two days, Paul Alcock (Chair of Trustees), Ian Tierney (Chief Partnerships Officer), and Nick Green (friend of the charity and Liverpool City Region Combined Authority) will ride an adapted Van Raam Fun2Go cycle through the Lake District, along Hadrian’s Wall, and into Newcastle Quayside.
This is more than a fundraising ride. It is a statement about access, equality, and opportunity.
Why we’re doing this
Across the North East, thousands of disabled people are still unable to access cycling due to a lack of inclusive provision. Wheels for All is working to change that — but we need your help.
Our vision is simple:
a high-quality inclusive cycling hub in every local authority.
Every pound raised through this challenge will help us take a step closer to making that a reality.
Your impact
Your donation can help us bring inclusive cycling to more people, more communities, and more places:
£10 could help fund a first-time taster session
£50 could support adapted cycle maintenance and delivery
£100+ helps develop new inclusive cycling opportunities in communities that need them most
This journey will take place over two days:
Day 1: Kendal to Carlisle (via Penrith)
Day 2: Carlisle to Newcastle
The team will finish at the iconic Baltic Centre on Newcastle Quayside, where they will meet with regional leaders to continue the push for greater inclusive cycling provision in the North East.
Join us
We’re inviting you to be part of this journey.
Whether you donate £5 or £50, every contribution helps break down barriers and create opportunities for disabled people to experience the joy, freedom, and confidence that cycling can bring.
Please donate if you can and help us make cycling truly for everyone.
